"Kashmiri Sidr Honey" — There Is No Such Thing

Every day, hundreds of sellers across India list something called "Kashmiri Sidr Honey." It sounds premium. It sounds rare. It sells at a high price.

But here is the truth: Sidr honey is not Kashmiri honey.

Where Real Sidr Honey Actually Comes From

Sidr honey comes from the Sidr tree (Ziziphus spina-christi) — a tree that needs hot, dry, desert or semi-desert conditions to survive. It grows in Yemen, Arabia, Pakistan, and in India, mainly in Rajasthan, where the climate suits it.

Kashmir Valley is cold, snowy, and sits at high altitude — the opposite of what this tree needs. Even in Jammu, the warmer part of Jammu & Kashmir, the tree survives only in small, scattered numbers — enough for personal or local use, never enough for commercial honey production.

So when you see "Kashmiri Sidr Honey" for sale in real commercial quantities, something doesn't add up.

So What Are These Sellers Actually Selling?

Most of the time, it is real Sidr honey — just not from Kashmir. It is sourced from Rajasthan or other desert regions of India, then relabelled with the word "Kashmiri" to charge a higher price.

Some sellers go a step further and point to a different Kashmiri tree — Ziziphus jujuba, locally known as Bar-e-Kund — which does genuinely grow in Kashmir's valleys and hillsides. But this is a different tree from the true Sidr tree that gives Sidr honey its name, character, and reputation. Sharing a plant family is not the same as being the same tree.

Either way, the customer pays a premium thinking they are buying something rare from the mountains of Kashmir. They are not.

This is not just a mistake. It is misleading labelling that customers deserve to know about.

Kashmir Doesn't Need a Borrowed Name

Kashmir has its own world-class honeys that deserve recognition — Kashmiri Acacia honey, Kashmiri Solai honey, and alpine multiflora honey. These are real. They come from real flowers, real beekeepers, and real Kashmiri forests.

They do not need a borrowed name to sound expensive.

When you buy honey labelled "Kashmiri Sidr," you are most likely buying Rajasthan Sidr honey — or a different tree altogether — wearing a Kashmiri name it never earned.

How Al Zareen Does Things Differently

Every honey we sell clearly states whether it is Kashmiri or not. If it is from Kashmir, we tell you exactly where. If it is not, we say that too.

No false labels. No borrowed reputations.

If you're looking to buy Kashmiri honey online, always check the label — and buy only from a source that tells you the truth about where your honey comes from.

Because real Kashmiri honey does not need to lie.
