Bees cannot make honey from saffron. Ever.
Saffron comes from the Crocus sativus flower. The red threads — called stigmas — produce absolutely no nectar. Bees make honey from nectar. No nectar means no honey. This is basic science.
There is another reason too. Kashmir saffron sells for ₹3,00,000 to ₹5,00,000 per kilogram. Every farmer in Pampore guards their crop like gold during harvest season. No farmer allows bees anywhere near their saffron fields.
So what are people selling?
They take regular honey, add saffron threads after production, and call it "Saffron Honey." That is not saffron honey. The correct honest name is Saffron Infused Honey. Two different things entirely.
Next time you see "Saffron Honey" on a label — you now know the truth.
